Mash came in really low again, around 148. The rice hulls really bring the temp down - adjust next time.
Racked to secondary 7/26/07. SG = 1.002!

Feedback from Decaturstevo:
A hazy light orange pour with a white creamy head and lace. Nose of hops hinting of everygreen. Very good hop profile on the taste with plenty of malt to balance it out. A very good hoppy finish as well. Mouthfeel was solid. Not thin at all but a hintof foaminess that kept me from saying a 5 on the palate. A solid offering all round well balanced. The nose doesn’t follow the bitter in the taste, this is a damn good beer. 3-7-8-4-15
Feedback from Dirty_Martini
honestly i couldnt really tell it was a wheat beer. it was crystal clear and more resembled a pale ale in flavor. it had a nice head, but oddly enough seemed rather low in carbonation. a little more carb wouldve added to the mouthfeel. overall, drank really easy and i was actually surprised how little pine came from the hops...more citrusy. 3.2
Feedback from Crizay:
Simcoe Wheat- Pours a golden copper with medium white head that stays the whole time. Aroma is hop juice, grapefruit and citrus along with some pine. Flavor is the same this is seriously like hops were just dissolved in it. Grapefruit mainly with spicy wheat notes, a touch of biscuit and a piney aftertaste. Full bodied, good amount of carbonation which I like a lot of and just a refreshing beer. 3.9
A hopped up american wheat is an awesome idea. Pretty cool too that a friend of mind made a hoppy wheat kegged it and took it golfing in the freakin golf bag and I never go to try it because they slammed it in 1 golf outing but he described it the same way I just described yours. Thanks man. |
